KinVillage Successfully Completes Accreditation Canada Survey: A Commitment to Excellence

In a significant milestone for KinVillage, a three-day onsite survey conducted by Accreditation Canada has recently concluded. Accreditation is an ongoing process that plays a vital role in assessing healthcare and social services organizations against stringent standards of excellence. Its purpose is to identify areas of strength and areas that require improvement. From October 16, 2023, to October 18, 2023, surveyors from Accreditation Canada visited KinVillage to meticulously evaluate the organization's performance against national standards of excellence concerning quality and safety.

Measuring Excellence

KinVillage underwent a thorough examination against Accreditation Canada's standards, which encompass Required Organizational Practices (ROPs). ROPs are critical quality practices designed to ensure safe and high-quality patient care. These practices are grouped into six safety areas, namely safety culture, communication, medication use, infection control, work-life/workforce, and risk assessment.

In addition to ROPs, KinVillage was also assessed based on standards of excellence. These criteria are designed to guarantee service excellence in various aspects, including medication management, infection prevention and control, leadership, and governance.

A Commitment to Quality Despite Challenges

Despite the unprecedented challenges faced by KinVillage's direct care and support services staff during the pandemic, they persevered in providing high-quality and compassionate care to the older adults they serve. Dan Levitt, CEO of KinVillage, highlighted the organization's unwavering commitment to excellence, saying, "The Accreditation process examines the level to which standards are implemented, from the governance level to the direct care lovingly provided to older persons. KinVillage is committed to advancing forward, maintaining a continuous quality improvement and person-centered agenda."

Anticipating Recognition

The Accreditation Canada survey represents a crucial step towards recognizing and celebrating KinVillage's commitment to quality and safety. An award decision from Accreditation Canada is expected in the near future, and once received, the full report will be made available on the KinVillage website.

In conclusion, KinVillage's successful completion of the Accreditation Canada survey underscores its dedication to providing top-notch care and services to older adults, even in the face of challenging circumstances. This achievement is a testament to the organization's commitment to continuous improvement and person-centered care. As we await the award decision from Accreditation Canada, we can anticipate more great things to come from KinVillage in its pursuit of excellence in healthcare and social services.
