As of November 2023, KinVillage has been accredited with Exemplary Standing – the highest level of performance achievable in the Accreditation Canada program, which is used by over 10,000 sites in 30 countries. This important milestone reflects the dedication and commitment of KinVillage’s staff to providing safe, high-quality, person and family centred care. KinVillage’s accreditation award is an incredible achievement that would not be possible without the day-to-day commitment of KinVillage’s staff, older adults and family partners, volunteers and supporters.

Accreditation Canada, an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits health organizations in Canada and around the world, has again awarded its top-level designation to KinVillage. The evaluations assess performance on more than 700 criteria related to everything from infection control and emergency preparedness to safety and governance. Along with onsite examinations and document reviews, independent evaluators conducted interviews with residents, family members, staff, volunteers and Board members. The designation, known as Exemplary Standing, is the result of a comprehensive assessment against established standards of excellence in healthcare quality and safety.

“This milestone accomplishment is the result of the exceptional dedication and professionalism of staff, complemented by the strong support of older adults KinVillage serves families, donors and volunteers,” says Dan Levitt, CEO, KinVillage. “Earning Exemplary Standing is proof positive that the mission of supporting older adults to live their lives fully by providing a continuum of health, housing, and wellness programs while nurturing a sense of community and belonging.”

During its latest assessment, KinVillage met or exceeded more than 700 criteria. The Accreditation Canada assessment report cites several highlights, including: “being well-regarded in the community for offering high-quality programs to support older adults. It has transformed into a multi-service campus, providing complex care, assisted living, independent living, a community centre, a Day Program for Older Persons, and community-based programs.  Person and family centred care forms the core of the organization’s approach. The organization has a strategic priority to provide excellent services, create high-quality experiences, and champion safety for those they serve.”

“The best practices developed and validated at KinVillage are helping to improve the quality of care delivered elsewhere,” says Dan Levitt “Initiatives such as our Senses Enhanced Dining Experience enable us to share best practices and relevant research so that everyone benefits.”
