Honouring Our Community Champion: Paul Madden Receives Rotary Peace Builder Award

In a heartwarming celebration last Thursday, we had the distinct privilege of honouring one of our own, Mr. Paul Madden, as he received the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen's prestigious Community Peace Builder Award! 🌟

Paul, a beloved resident at KinVillage West Court, has demonstrated unwavering commitment and a passionate dedication to nurturing our courtyard garden. His efforts have transformed it into a peaceful and serene sanctuary for residents and their families, making it a true gem within our community.

.

Paul's journey with us began at KinVillage Independent Apartments, where he spent many happy years. As his care needs evolved, he transitioned to our care home, a significant life change that coincided with a world grappling with the challenges of a global pandemic. During this time, when visitor restrictions were in place, and masks were the rule, Paul adapted with grace, becoming an integral part of our community. Recognizing the special significance of our courtyard, Paul quickly emerged as its champion. He tirelessly advocated for its revitalization, envisioning a space that would be inviting, safe, and inspiring for all who ventured outdoors. Alongside a dedicated group comprising one family member, one staff member, and Paul himself, the Courtyard Gardening Committee was formed. Their collective efforts encompassed gardening, meticulous planning, and the recruitment of additional support as visitor restrictions eased.

Paul assumed the role of the garden's guardian, identifying its unique needs, coordinating daily tasks, and tirelessly seeking new helpers. His passion and dedication shine through in the enchanting and serene courtyard garden that we all enjoy today.
