Independent Living

KinVillage provides subsidized rental and market rental housing for independent older adults and independent younger adults with disabilities.

Subsidized housing is offered through our partnership with BC housing and rent is based on 30% of total household gross income. If you live in BC, have a low income, and meet the income and asset eligibility criteria, you may qualify for subsidized housing. See further details on eligibility in the “Apply for KinVillage subsidized housing” section below.

Market rent apartments will be available in the summer of 2025 and more details will be provided closer to the completion of our new building.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Be a permanent resident of British Columbia, and meet Canadian Citizenship requirements as defined by BC Housing.

  • Have a low to moderate income as defined annually by BC Housing (currently less than $58,000.00 a year);

  • Have household net assets less than $100,000.

  • Be age 55 years or older and/or a person with disabilities who can live independently and is in receipt of a recognized disability pension or is considered disabled for income tax purposes.

KinVillage offers seniors a secure, comfortable home in a supportive community. Residents get a free Community Centre membership for access to activities such as fitness, dancing, billiards, crafts, music, education, trips, events, and the Unique Boutique and Buenos Dias Cafe.

SUITE INFORMATION

Currently we offer one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments (coming 2025) with an ensuite bathroom, living and dining areas including a full kitchen with fridge and stove. We also have wheelchair accessible apartments, common lounge areas for gatherings within each building and shared laundry facilities are available in convenient locations to all apartments. Pets and smoking are not allowed in the buildings. There is a designated outdoor smoking area on the property, located near the community centre.

86 units ranging from 464 square feet to 550 square feet.

South Court

11 Units ranging from 430 square feet to 550 square feet.

Vidal Court

30 units primarily 578 square feet with some up to 813 square feet.
