Prevention Plan COVID-19 Update May 15, 2020
We remain safe and COVID-19 free. Thank you for all your collective efforts, kindness and patience as we navigate this journey together.
We remain diligent in following best practice measures including maintaining physical distancing (2 meters), active screening of staff and anyone coming into and leaving West Court and South Court buildings, frequent monitoring of residents for any symptoms indicating possible infection, staying away from others if you are unwell and/or displaying symptoms such as coughing, fever, etc., washing your hands frequently, practicing proper cough etiquette, wearing personal protective equipment where appropriate such as masks and eye protection, and daily enhanced cleaning in all of our buildings by the housekeeping team. Thank you for your continued efforts!
Just a couple of items to share since last week’s update:
- At the direction of the Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and in collaboration with Fraser Health, the Single Site Order, a public health measure restricting staff from working in more than one long-term care or assisted living site (note: acute care, home support/, community are exempt from the order) will be implemented on May 15. The process was carefully and thoughtfully reviewed ensuring minimal disruption and that we will continue to provide quality care in a safe environment for our residents and staff.
- COVID-19 Survey: The BC Center for Disease Control (BCCDC) wants to hear from you.
- BC COVID-19 SPEAK: Your story, our future is a population health survey to elicit citizen experience, knowledge and actions during the COVID-19 pandemic. This survey is the first of several activities that will strengthen BCCDC’s pandemic response and our understanding of the impacts of COVID-19 to date (social, economic, mental wellness and community wellness). The survey is open until May 31 and all British Columbians are invited to complete the on-line survey which takes 10-15 minutes to complete. Results will be made available this summer. To access the survey: http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/covid-19-survey.
We are so grateful for our dedicated and compassionate staff. Thanks to those residents and family members who’ve taken time especially over the past couple of months to express gratitude directly to a staff member or have provided written messages we can share with the whole team in the Care Home or in Assisted Living. This week we celebrated National Nursing Week together and marked the occasion by giving all members of the care team a chocolate treat and a gift card for coffee/tea at Tim’s.
Please refer to last week’s update (on May 8th) for other reminders about what’s happening at KinVillage during the COVID-19 threat and for lists of KinVillage contacts and sources of additional information.
Wishing you a safe and healthy month of May!
