Prevention Plan COVID-19 Update - May 1, 2020

We appreciate everyone’s contributions to keeping it that way. Thank you all for maintaining physical distancing (2 meters), staying away from others if you are unwell and/or displaying symptoms such as coughing, fever, etc., washing your hands frequently, staff for wearing masks, eye shields and other personal protective equipment as appropriate and the housekeeping team for its diligence in enhanced cleaning in all of our buildings.
Just a few things to share since last week’s update:

Home Health Physio and Occupational Therapy are now regularly visiting South Court to help Assisted Living residents maintain their mobility through regular walking. Those long hallways come in handy!

Staff phoned or emailed our community centre members, including residents of North, Vidal and South Court (independent residents) to share information about the Nourishing Neighbours - Seniors Meal Delivery Program that the City of Delta initiated to support Delta seniors during the COVID-19 threat. Contact information for those interested in the program has been provided to the City and its staff will follow up to facilitate weekly ordering and delivery of affordable meals.

We’ve just been advised that admissions of new residents from the community into the Care Home and Assisted Living Residence will once again be allowed. Public Health had identified precautionary measures to address any risk of infection.

We continue to work closely with Fraser Health towards the anticipated Single Site Orders for the Care Home and Assisted Living Residence, with the expectation these will be implemented in May.
A reminder regarding Mother’s Day on May 10th – unfortunately we are not able to accept gifts (e.g. bouquets, chocolates) for residents of the Care Home or Assisted Living Residence. We encourage families to send cards (and pictures if they wish) via Canada Post. Our staff will be happy to deliver to Care Home residents by Mother’s Day any cards we receive by Thursday May 7th . You are also most welcome to contact the Care Home for assistance in connecting with your loved one via phone, Skype, Facetime or WhatsApp.

Please refer to last week’s update (on April 24th) for other reminders about what’s happening at KinVillage during the COVID-19 threat and for lists of KinVillage contacts and sources of additional information.
Wishing you a safe and healthy month of May!
