COVID-19 Update – February 16, 2022

West Court – Today, we have received test results and have 5 new COVID-19 positive residents in the Parkview neighbourhood, and 1 new positive resident in the Care Home. The current total is 8 residents in Parkview and 2 residents in the Care Home.  As well, there are currently 4 staff with COVID-19 who are isolating at home for 5 days as per public health guidelines. We remain on enhanced monitoring:

  • Residents and staff are screened twice daily
  • If anyone starts showing symptoms they are tested
  • Only residents that test positive for COVID-19 are isolated in their room and placed on contact precautions
  • The period of isolation is 5 days unless they are still having symptoms
  • Asymptomatic residents are not isolated
  • Communal dining is stopped and residents are served meals in their rooms
  • Group activities are stopped as well
  • Essential visitors only on Parkview. All other residents are allowed visitors including the positive ones.

We are grateful that so far that the symptoms are mild for both residents and staff in large part due to excellent vaccination rates.Despite loosening of certain BC Public Health restrictions on gatherings and events, KinVillage continues to follow guidance for Long-Term Care, including all visitors must wear their mask at all times and complete active screening.  If one is feeling unwell even with very mild symptoms, they are asked to stay home.KinVillage continues to work closely Fraser Health Infection Prevention and Control Consultant and Public Health daily and will implement any recommendations to enhance safety measures that help control the spread and minimize impact on older persons.
