COVID-19 Update – December 17, 2021

Dear residents, tenants, family/visitors and staff,Thank you for all your hard work, your sacrifices and your continued compliance with public health measures to ensure everyone’s safety including residents, staff and visitors!  We could not accomplish what we have achieved so far without everyone’s help and cooperation.   Unfortunately the marathon is not over yet.   The next few weeks are critical and definitely not the time to let our guard down given what we are seeing with the transmissibility of the new variant – Omicron.Today we heard from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, and Minister of Health Adrian Dix introduce new public health measures effective Monday December 20 including “limiting indoor personal gatherings at your home or vacation accommodation to your household plus 10 visitors or 1 other household, and that everyone 12 and over attending must be fully vaccinated”.Each and every one of us must continue to be vigilant and diligent by following public health measures and to continue using the many layers of protection that we know works including:  self-monitoring for signs/symptoms of illness, staying away when unwell, getting vaccinated, wearing masks, performing frequent hand hygiene, assessing risks for ourselves and others when attending holiday gatherings, knowing whether people in attendance at a gathering are fully vaccinated, and consider not bringing in young unvaccinated children into the care home or assisted living.If you do attend a gathering or plan on hosting one, ensure people attending are fully vaccinated, that there is good ventilation (opening windows), that people are wearing masks in small crowded places and when physical distancing is hard to maintain, and consider having a separate event with your vulnerable older family members and another with young unvaccinated children.  Again, it is all about assessing the risks for yourself, for your family members and others.For more details, please visit:  https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/info/restrictionsThank you everyone for your continued care, compassion and commitment towards keeping all of KinVillage and our community free of COVID-19.Wishing you a safe, peaceful and joyous holiday season.
