COVID-19 Prevention Plan Update - May 29, 2020

We remain safe and COVID-19 free. Thank you for all your collective efforts, kindness and patience as we navigate this journey together.
We remain diligent in following best practice measures including maintaining physical distancing (2 meters), active screening of staff and anyone coming into and leaving West Court and South Court buildings, frequent monitoring of residents for any symptoms indicating possible infection, staying away from others if you are unwell and/or displaying symptoms such as coughing, fever, diarrhea, vomiting etc., washing your hands frequently, practicing proper cough etiquette, wearing personal protective equipment where appropriate such as masks and eye protection, and daily enhanced cleaning in all of our buildings by the housekeeping team. Thank you for your continued efforts!

Just a couple of items to share since last week’s update:

  • Despite some relaxation of public health restrictions in our communities over the next coming weeks KinVillage continues, under the direction of the Provincial Health Officer Dr Bonnie Henry and Fraser Health Authority, to ensure that best practice measures continue for our residents living in Assisted Living and the Care Home. In addition to the measures mentioned above visitor restrictions continue – there is no change.
  • Visitors are not allowed in the Care Home or Assisted Living Residence except one essential adult visitor who passes screening and is visiting a resident who is actively dying. Please refer to previous Updates to learn how you can visit remotely using technology or through windows, and balconies.
  • Visitors are still allowed in North and Vidal Courts though asked to please not visit if they are experiencing any respiratory symptoms.
  • There is still time to complete the survey! The BC Center for Disease Control (BCCDC) wants to hear from you as the province prepares to carefully re-start services. BC COVID-19 SPEAK: Your story, our future is a population health survey to elicit citizen experience, knowledge and actions during the COVID-19 pandemic. This survey is the first of several activities that will strengthen BCCDC’s pandemic response and our understanding of the impacts of COVID-19 to date (social, economic, mental wellness and community wellness). The survey is open until May 31 and all British Columbians are invited to complete the on-line survey which takes 10-15 minutes to complete. Results will be made available this summer. To access the survey: http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/covid-19-survey

We are so grateful for our dedicated and compassionate staff. Thanks to those residents and family members who’ve taken time especially over the past couple of months to express gratitude directly to a staff member or have provided written messages we can share with the whole team in the Care Home or in Assisted Living.

Sincere thanks this week to our community:

7-11 TSAWWASSEN – A huge thank you to 7-11 Tsawwassen for donating treats of donuts, muffins and bottled water for our care staff to enjoy on their breaks on May 21, 2020.

p.s. If you would like to donate supplies, food or other items, please check with us first to ensure that there are no restrictions and that we will be able to accept your gift. Please contact Sue Satterthwaite, Communications & Executive Assistant at 604-943-0155 x238 or
