June 12, 2020
We remain safe and COVID-19 free. Great job everyone! Keep up the good work. Thank you.
In a statement this week from Dr Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer, and Health Minister Adrian Dix, “…while our overall provincial cases may be low, COVID-19 is active and in our communities.” People living in long-term care and assisted living are at most risk. We must not let our guard down. Recently there has been a new outbreak in one long-term care home in Vancouver. This is a good reminder for everyone that this is not the time to be complacent.
We must continue to be diligent in following best practice measures. Measures include: maintaining physical distancing (2 meters), active screening of staff and anyone coming into and leaving West Court and South Court buildings, vigilant monitoring of residents for any symptoms indicating possible infection, visitor restrictions, staying away from others if you are unwell and/or displaying symptoms such as coughing, fever, diarrhea, vomiting etc., washing your hands frequently, practicing proper cough etiquette, wearing personal protective equipment where appropriate such as masks and eye protection, and daily enhanced cleaning in all of our buildings by the housekeeping team. Thank you for your continued efforts!
Just a couple of items to share since last week’s update:
- For West Court residents starting Monday, June 15, 2020, the bookings for all glass door visits will go through the Unit Clerk desk. All virtual connection bookings will continue to go through the Director of Wellness. We are confident this change will help better manage the high volume of booking requests.

- We are so grateful for our dedicated and compassionate staff. Thank you to all the staff for helping residents and families connect virtually, over the phone or at the glass door while we live these challenging times. These connections have made a big difference in people’s lives.
Sincere thanks this week to our community: Anyone who is sending notes of thanks that we can post for our staff as well as all those in the community who “make some noise” for health care workers at 7 pm each evening. You lift our spirits!
