DELTA PUBLIC HEARING FOR KINVILLAGE NORTH COURT REDEVELOPMENT

The City of Delta held a Public Hearing on Thursday, September 9 2021 for the KinVillage North Court Redevelopment (NCRD) project. The NCRD is the first phase of a master plan that has been in the works since 2016 and has received preliminary approvals for funding through Building BC: Community Housing Fund with BC Housing.

The proposal discussed at this Public Hearing was for the Application for Rezoning, Development Variance Permit and Development Permit in order to permit subdivision and development of a 152 unit, four- to six-storey seniors’ affordable rental apartment building with one level of underground parking. The rental building includes three rent classifications: rent-geared-to-income units (50 percent of units), affordable market rentals (30 percent of units), and deep subsidy rentals (20 percent of units) with indoor amenity spaces, common balcony spaces and laundry rooms on each floor. The building will also include a 5000 sq ft space for a day program for older adults, as well as a 1000 sq ft office area.

Now that the project has received 3rd reading from Council, detailed design work can commence in advance of a building permit application. The project also requires a number of approvals from BC Housing related to the design and project budget before construction can begin.

Kin Village looks forward to continue working towards the construction of the new housing complex.
