Education for Adults
Welcome to all our returning and new ElderCollege Delta members!
Our many volunteers are already hard at work scheduling another exciting Spring Semester Program. Our senior community in South Delta is experiencing strong growth and our ElderCollege membership reflects that by having increased significantly in the past year. Responding to these changes, ElderCollege has continued to evolve by becoming a BC Society, and now eagerly awaits Canada Revenue charitable status. We are all very happy that our relationship with KinVillage will continue as before. Computer classes will still be offered in the Multi-purpose Room at the Community Centre and our office remains across the corridor where we have been for the past 15 years. Other courses will continue to use Vidal Court and the facilities in Ladner that have served us so well. And of course we will still offer educational field trips and special presentations.
Sneak Peek at Spring Courses
The ElderCollege Spring Semester this coming Spring will run from early March through to mid-May. We will be offering our ever-popular Technology Courses, including a new session on Setting up Technology and Communication Connections at Home, Our General Studies courses will include Solo and Safe Travel, Stress Reduction through Yoga and Meditation, Opera, Canadian Literature, Story Writing, History of our Planet, History of China, Birds, and Ethics in Science. Our First Nations Reconciliation Series will also continue.

History, will return to present his new book, “A Not So Savage Land”. A field trip to the Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is planned. Stay tuned for addition field trip and special presentation surprises.

ElderCollege Delta (ECD) is a community-based, volunteer group dedicated to a mission of enhancing knowledge and lifestyles. We take a relaxed approach, providing opportunities for lifelong learning and personal growth.
As with other KinVillage Community Centre offerings, our education courses are created based upon the wide-variety of interests and needs demonstrated by our target population of adults “north of 50”.
The courses are short, stimulating and are without pressure or exams.
All of the instructors are also volunteers, experienced in their respective fields. Typical courses offered are in computers, arts (visual, literary, musical), languages, psychology, science, current affairs, social issues, gardening and much more.
Two semesters are available, running in both the spring (April-May) and fall (October-November). With a nominal $10 annual membership fee and modest individual course fees, ElderCollege learning is both affordable and varied. Prior to each semester, watch the local papers for information and the libraries for brochures for current courses being offered, and, of course, here on the KinVillage website.
Over 600 mature students have enjoyed the benefits of ECD education. We always need volunteers and space to accommodate our many diverse learning opportunities. If you can or wish to contribute, kindly contact us.
Inquiries on courses or other matters can be made via email email@example.com or leave a message at 604-943-0262.
YOU HAVE THE OPTION OF ENROLLING AND PAYING REGISTRATION FEES ONLINE WITH VISA OR MASTERCARD EITHER AT HOME OR IN OUR OFFICE WITH VOLUNTEER HELP.
Please note that ElderCollege reserves the right to cancel courses which have low registration numbers.
You must be a member of ElderCollege Delta to take a course. Membership fees are $10 per year and may be purchased along with registration fees.
Fees are payable by cheque, cash or credit card. Our goal at ElderCollege Delta is to be self-sustaining.
A refund will be issued only if a course is cancelled or at the discretion of ElderCollege for extenuating circumstances when requested by a student. If for any reason a presenter is unable to attend, we will attempt to provide a suitable substitute.
If you cannot be accommodated because a course is full, you may have your name included on a wait list. You do not have to be an ElderCollege Delta member to be on the wait list, and the registration fee is payable only after confirmation of a place in the course.
It is requested that the use of men & women’s scented products are not worn during ElderCollege courses due to individuals who have allergenic reaction upon contact with these scents.
